The California Department of Education, Child Development Division(CDE/CDD), is sponsoring a series of state wide trainings on the resource guide, Preschool English Learners: Principles and Practices to Promote Language, Literacy and Learning. The trainings are conducted by the California Preschool Instructional Network (CPIN). Because these trainings are part of the overall goals of the CDD, they are related to the efforts of the Desired Results system. To view more on Desired Results, visit www.wested.org/desiredresults.To find out more or to register for the Preschool English Learners trainings go to the CPIN calendar of events.
This training addresses the education of the fastest growing segment of the preschool population--English learners. The goals of these trainings are to:
- Provide teachers with strategies for educating young English learners and familiarize them with the research that informed those strategies
- Help teachers and administrators recognize the gifts and talents that preschool English learners bring to their classrooms and programs
- Introduce the resource guide, Preschool English Learners: Principles and Practices to Promote Language, Literacy, and Learning
Who should attend?
This dynamic training is designed to benefit staff working to promote the language, literacy, and learning of preschool-age English learners and is open primarily to teachers, administrators, and training consultants in CDE/CDD-funded programs. However, there are a limited number of spaces open to teachers from preschool programs funded by other sources.
Training Schedule: Check-in begins at 8:30 a.m.
Each training begins at 9 a.m. and concludes at 4 p.m.
The English Learning for Preschoolers Project is funded by the California Department of Education, Child Development Division (CDE/CDD) with Federal Child Development Funds for Quality Improvement Initiatives and is conducted by CPIN. |
