Preschool English Learners
Course Description
This nine-week course will help students become familiar with the eight core beliefs about preschool English learning, recognize the importance of the family in a child's language development, learn about the different paths children take to bilingualism, recognize the stages of second language development, and introduce strategies to support all learners in a particular program.
As a result of participating in this course, students will:
- Develop skills to support verbal language development for preschool English learners
- Develop skills to support reading and writing skills for preschool English learners
- Recognize the difference between a language difference and a developmental delay
- Develop skills to involve the child's family and culture into the daily program
Course requirement include readings, practice, implementation, sharing with peers, and a final report.
