Welcome to Preschool English Learners.
Course Description
This nine-week course will help you become familiar with the eight core beliefs about Preschool English learning, recognize the importance of the family in a child's language development, learn about the different paths children take to bilingualism, recognize the stages of second language development, and will familiarize you with strategies to support all the learners in your program.
As a result of participating in this course, you will:
- Develop skills to support verbal language development for Preschool English learners
- Develop skills to support reading and writing skills for Preschool English learners
- Be able to recognize the difference between an language difference and a developmental delay
- Develop skills to involve the child's family and culture into the daily program
Course requirement include readings, practice, implementation, sharing with peers, and a final report.
