Structure of the DRDP© (2010) - February 13-19
Objectives
- Explain the alignment of the DRDP© (2010) with both foundations and Head Start outcomes

- Locate specific Domains and Measures to address given skills in the DRDP© (2010) instrument
- Generate additional Examples to demonstrate mastery of a given Developmental Level

- Your first task is to select one MEASURE from one of the DRDP© (2010)’s you will be using. For each Developmental Level in that Measure, please give an additional example of how a child can exhibit mastery of that measure. Please make sure you include the Measure Number and Age Level Tool in your posting.
- Your second task is to share one or two activities, routines or materials you might provide in your program so that children will be able to develop and demonstrate that measure.
- When you are done, go back and read and respond to the postings of at least two of your team members.
Week 4
Collecting Documentation - February 20-26
Objectives

Rating and Completing the DRDP© (2010) Forms - February 27 - March 4
Objectives

Using One Child’s Portfolio to Complete the DRDP© (2010) - March 5-11

Journal Assignment--reflection on learning
First of three required assignments
In this assignment, you will be given a portfolio of a preschool child. Your task will be to review the portfolio and complete an online DRDP© (2010) form specially made for this course. You will be asked to rate the DRDP© (2010) in four domains; Self and Social Development, Language and Literacy Development, Cognitive Development, and Physical Development. You will be asked to either write down your supporting evidence, or to explain why you could not rate the measure and what your plan would be to gather the additional information you need.
Discussion
In the Cafe this week, we will compare our ratings for Maritzia with the ratings of classmates on three measures. For each Measure, post your rating and the reason you gave her that rating. Read and respond to the postings of two of your classmates. Can your group come to agreement about what the rating should be?
Week 7
Summarizing and Using Information Acquired from Completed DRDP© (2010) - March 12-18
Objectives
- Prepare a Child Development Progress Form
- Meet with families to discuss their child's development
- Make plans to support that child's future growth and development
- Prepare a Group Data Summary Report

- Use results to plan curriculum and environment

Part two of three of the required assignments
In this assignment, you will continue your work with Maritzia’s portfolio and DRDP© (2010).
- Your first task will be to review her DRDP© (2010) and to complete a Child's Developmental Progress report highlighting her progress and goals for her family. You may revisit the DRDP© (2010) form you completed in Module 6 if you are USING THE SAME COMPUTER you used to fill in the form. Use the form supplied to write and submit your summary report electronically to the Instructor. Simply download the document to your computer, fill in the spaces and email the document to the instructor as an attachment.
- Your second task will be to review the Group Data Excel File for Maritzia’s class. Identify two Domains that you would focus on for the next six month period. (Remember, plans are made on a Domain level, not a Measure level.) Using the Developmental Profile Summary of Findings , create a plan and submit your work electronically to the Instructor. Make sure your plan includes environmental ideas, activity ideas and training ideas in the same way that they are laid out in the example of a completed form from the library section.
Discussion
- The fifth Desired Results states “Families support their children's learning and development.” How can you use information gathered with the DRDP© (2010) tool and your child summary report to best support this Desired Result?
- Select two Domains from any of the three DRDP© (2010) age level tools. For each, talk about classroom strategies you would use to support children’s growth and development in these areas. Make sure to include at least one activity or routine, one environmental change, and one suggestion for families for each of your Domains.
- Please respond to the postings of two of your classmates.
Week 8
Taking a Larger View - March 19-25
Objectives
- Think about how to use California's early childhood foundations, frameworks, and DRDP© (2010) results to inform planning for large groups, small groups, and individual children
- Be able to discuss the research base behind the DRDP© (2010)
- Explain how the age level tool you will be using aligns with and relates to the two other age level tools
- Discuss how you will use what you gained from this course in your work.

- Select one Indicator from the DRDP© (2010). Explain how the child development research relates to and supports the Measures and Developmental Levels for that Indicator.
